No Work Experience
We began with a comprehensive diagnosis of Tiago’s resume, understanding his strengths and areas for improvement as they relate to personal college and career goals. We helped him make a few improvements in the structure, language, and content of his resume to better frame his profile for employers. Then, we provided him a list of our partner organizations best suited to provide him the skills and knowledge relevant to him and make the most of his summer. The process continued with personal interview preparation, so he could represent his experience and goals to each, and once he was hired, we helped create a flexible work schedule that fit his summer availability. From there, we continually interacted with Tiago and his new employer to ensure end-to-end support!

Admissions into Occidental College
Dewey Smart reframed Tiago’s mindset regarding his skills and what he has to offer potential colleges. Part of this process that worked particularly well was the Guaranteed Internship Program. He landed his first choice internship, which we were surprised to find was paid and flexible for his summer schedule. We have been thoroughly satisfied with our son’s experience with Dewey Smart, and we unhesitatingly recommend them to prospective college applicants!
Like many students, Tiago felt like he was at a loss for how he could stand out to different colleges. He had a very strong academic profile but hadn’t really engaged with his area of interest outside of the classroom. Recognizing that, he entered the process with an open mind and a positive attitude toward gaining work experience. Our Guaranteed Internship Program was a perfect fit for him, and I’m so proud that he stuck with it throughout the entire summer!
